SHEAKLEY ATHLETICS CENTER
One of the newest sports facilities on the University of Cincinnati campus is the football practice facility, Sheakley Athletics Center. Located in Clifton, Ohio, it consists of one full size and one half size NCAA regulation practice fields. The field is also used for the women’s lacrosse team, includes spectator capacity seating area, a press box, team meeting space, restrooms, scoreboard, and concession stand.
Systems designed by KLH included athletic field lighting along with interior air structure lighting, landscape and accent lighting along Jefferson Avenue, new electrical services, and plumbing systems providing water and gas systems to the field. Plumbing systems include water used for player consumption and misting systems. The gas system supports the dome inflation system which allows the teams to practice indoors from November to February. The interior lighting system allows the facility to operate around the clock. The 4 million gallon underground chilled water storage tank adds to the sustainable aspects of the Center and aesthetic integration was kept in mind by designing all systems as ‘plug and play’ which is unique for a facility such as this.
